bridesmaid boxes

Friday, July 25, 2014

My favorite part of the wedding planning process (so far) has been putting together my Bridesmaid Boxes. I think Pinterest has ruined how you ask your bridesmaids to be your maids, you used to just ask them...like "hey wanna be my bridesmaid?" and then they said "yea man." The end. Now you have to go all out and basically make pigs fly to ask them. I didn't mind but lezbehonest it was a little more stressful.  When I thought of all the ways to ask them, I went through all the typical ways. The ring pop way, the tank top/champagne way, the box of popcorn saying "he popped the question, now it's my turn," but I just couldn't do it. I wanted something different, something  unique, and something that is ME. duh. this is all about me right?
So I came up with the "Bridesmaid Box" which would be a cute little box filled with things that they would use leading up to my special day, and things that they would use on my special day.  I am having a brunch wedding so I knew I wanted them all to have cute little robes to wear the day of-the hardest thing to find. ever. I had so many different ideas, and there are so many robes, and girlfriend over here doesn't have the largest budget. I knew I wanted items that would pamper them, and make them feel appreciated for the work they are about to ensue.

Bridesmaid Box:

Contents:
EOS Chapstick (here)
EOS Hand Lotion (here)
Lush Bath Bomb, Butterball (here) seriously smells soooo good.
Personalized Pencil, #Partywithyourvanson (here)
Bridesmaid Card (inside envelope, but this is the one i bought here)
Robe (similar here)

also a Bridesmaid Box wouldn't be completed without alcohol, so I included mini bottles of Champs. It was also very fitting because I like Champs, so I bought a few extra. score.

All of my Bridesmaids appeared to love the box, and thought it was a super cute idea. I loved it and have an extra set of everything for myself :)

how did you ask your bridesmaids?

that marriage thang. part 2

If you follow me on anything, you will already know what this post is about. If you don't well....you should. But this girl right here is now engaged wha what! Im sure most of y'all already knew that otherwise you wouldn't be here ;) Like I said in previous post I was so ready for him to propose, but so okay that we weren't engaged. Obviously I am beyond ecstatic that we are finally gonna get hitched, and so far it has been an easy-going process. so far.

I wanted to start from the beginning, I want to have these memories of what I was feeling when we were engaged and the process we went through-so I PLAN to blog the process of our engagement. Hold on to your panties because hopefully this is the process of me making my way back into the blogging world. So first I am going to share with you the YouTube video I made from our trip in which we ended up engaged.

I am going to answer a few questions that I know will come:

No, I did not know it was coming-I recorded our whole trip because I always grew up watching home videos and thought it would be fun to start making our own. I guess it was the perfect trip to start it on.

I didn't know he was proposing until that day, Matthew was showing signs of nervousness, and suppppperrr protective of his pocket. So I put two and two together. I was still just as excited, and I still cried like a little baby.

Yes, we drank at Disneyland, that is why we get the Park Hopper-California Adventure now serves alcohol... we were celebrating.

Yes, we have a date. I will share that on another post when I share our Save-The-Dates.
I will also show you are venue, and my thoughts and ideas for the space.

So yes, I have a lot of wedding post coming up. I don't care. Pretend to enjoy it with me.
I will also be sharing more of my Photography from a lot of the weddings I have been shooting. say whatttt.

peace out girl scout.

oh and here is my gorgeous ring:

this past week i had the joy of shooting a pregnant woman who was absolutely radiant, and I loved joking around and laughing with her. Plus she had sooo much fun with the "lifestyle" shoot too.

one of my favorite shots from the shoot. Is she just not the most beautiful-at ease looking- prego.

christmas

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

It's no secret to anyone I know that christmas is my favorite time of the year. I like the smells, the sights, and the feelings you get. (that could just be the holiday parties talking). I like baking for others and the photoshoots that I get to do. I like the decorations and the trees that go up, and with that i like seeing everyone else's decorations on Instagram (find me) and their elaborate trees. Our tree is comfy (okay ill stop using that one word to describe EVERYTHING), our tree is small yet perfect. We live in an apartment, space is limited--and storage is even harder to come by.  So we settled for a 4ft tree, and placed all of our nostalgic ornaments on it and then filled it in with the typical ornaments. We don't have a tree skirt, just warning you now.

our initials, duh.

our teeny tree. obviously not lit.
diy chalkboard side tables

these ornaments are from different years, but 1. snowmen are my fave. 2. rascal flatts gets me everytime (especially I melt) 3. popcorn..my absolute favorite food in the world. yes food.

this was our first ornament together, see snowmen.

How do you decorate your tree? Nostalgic? Bulbs?
Do you have attachments to ornaments?

comfy house

Monday, December 16, 2013

When we first moved in together I had a vision for our first place together; I wanted comfy, bright, and airy. We waited 2 months for our apartment because the natural light that pours in is amazing, the "photographer" in me was obsessed. I knew I wanted our apartment to be a mish mash style, I wanted to know that if I saw something at a store that it would fit into our apartment no matter the color or style. Our apartment kind of exudes our personalities, or that's what I think anyway. Our apartment tells OUR story.

welcome to ze casa-or the parts ill show you anyway
matts favorite part of the apartment ;) the couch--and golf/baseball/football/SOA on the television

our bookcase, the first thing you see when you walk in

matt gave me that chalkboard sign before having chalkboard EVERYTHING was cool,
he wrote that the day he gave it to me and I don't have the heart to erase it.
that piece of paper in the back--well that is OUR song, handwritten lyrics by the lead singer of The Cab. endlessly--the cab. Check em out

matt moved in with like five books, the rest are mine (as i'm sure you guessed)
that yellow piece of paper, is from our first date; we played mini golf. Matt kept the score card all this time and I thought "that is the kind of stuff I want displayed in our house."

our couch was given to us, and it was supposed to be a "temporary thing" until we bought a new one once we are settled in; well we've been here seven months...and it's still here. This monster couch barely fit in the door, so that is another thing-getting it out. we are lazy. that rug, target FTW

this dresser was mine from when i was seven, seven! it sat in the garage when I got my new bedroom furniture at 19, and when i moved out i told my mom i wanted to take it with me and make it into a tv stand, and wah-lah. it is perfect, it has sooo much storage and matt just took out the top drawer and put in a piece of wood for our cable box and dvd player.

like this blog infers, i like comfy. so a basket full of blankets is a necessity.
whether they are used for fort building or for covering my legs because im too lazy to get pants; they are perfect.

this is our mantra; one of the million we have
I saw this on alana in love and knew I had to have it,
we are a "kissing couple" which means we always kiss before one leaves, we go to sleep, and when we wake up. yep even with our wonderful morning breath.
#sorrynotsorry

and because no post is complete without this cute munchkin:
"no more pictures mom!"

on any given sunday

Friday, December 13, 2013

on any given sunday you will find us hanging out in bed with bogey at our feet (gasp! you let your dog in your bed!!) yes, yes we do. we don't have children yet, bogey is our child; and we are a snuggling family.  we hang out in bed, and most of the time we get into a tickle war before we end up telling each other "your breath stank." we keep it real.
our bed is my favorite, we could use a new mattress--butttt it's still comfy. I love the idea of a bright bedroom, and light sheets/comforters. I love the feeling of being curled up in bed with this big, puffy comforter around you and pillows galore. Our bed will never look like a Pottery Bard ad, and I am okay with that. Those beds look to put together for me... I mean I didn't even put my bed together for this post. I probably should've, I have super cute mint pillows but you can't see them behind those Goods by Grinn pillows:

on sunday we spend ten minutes (okay more like 20, or 30) checking our phones, between all social media accounts I feel like I am always looking at my phone! don't you feel that way? Matt and I have a deal between each other, when we are at dinner, or with our families we try not to take out our phones. We try to be present, in the moment with each other. There are some moments when we want to show each other something and we'll whip it out, but otherwise we try and keep it away.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
do you check your phone right away in the morning? or do you wait a bit?
could your bed be in a Pottery Bard ad?

welcome to sunday comfies!

Thursday, December 12, 2013

hey y'all,
welcome to sunday comfies, I am so excited about this new opportunity that I cannot contain it (ask matt).  Many of you are here from the old blog, and I am glad you are stopping by this new one and seeing what it is all about, and you other readers are REAL life people I know. (mind blown). The last blog reflected parts of me, but not ME as a whole, I kept it a secret from my friends and family and I felt I was in sooo deep that I couldn't tell them about it one thousand post in. So I deleted it.
Starting fresh. It feels good.  It feels like sunday morning. (see what i did there.)

This blog will reflect me, my life with matt, and our journey together. Mostly it's going to be about me, but Bogey and Matt will make several cameo appearances. (bogey=our black lab, in case you were wondering.)

I am going to showcase some of my photography shoots, recipes, DIY-wannabe crafter right here (yea, get excited), and just anything that comes to mind.  I would like to consider this as a "lifestyle" blog, but lifestyle just really means I don't categorize myself as anything because well...I will write about whatever I feel like it. boom.

Hopefully in the near future I will be writing about my engagement (that hasn't happened yet. ahem) to matt, and our road to "i do" but don't worry this won't be a wedding blog. It seriously is just gonna be a blog about me. (psh that sounds selfish).

i hope you enjoy this new venture almost as much as i enjoy a doughnut on a sunday morning. (let's be real a doughnut sounds fantastic every morning, especially an imperfect doughnut.)

and "just because" this sounded fun:

head on over to two thirds hazel and check out everyone else's responses.
